All these years, we have been providing web based control panels as a part of our shared hosting and dedicated hosting service offerings.

The most popular control panels are WHM/CPanel, Direct Admin, Plesk and Helm.

Though these control panels save a lot of time, they have a monthly licensing cost associated with it and hence add up to the monthly  hosting cost. In order to provide more variations to the clients and also save costs, we have started investigating into open source web based control panels.

One control panel we have already investigated is Open Panel. This was done as a part of our Auro Technology Research program. Open Panel is quite limited in its feature set, but is easily usable out of the box. We are now ready to start offering Open Panel as a part of our basic offerings to our clients, so that they can choose the control panel that best fits their needs, budget and taste. Open Panel should be ready for use before end of July 2009. Stay tuned for further updates on this.

Another open source control panel that is popular is the GNUPanel

Will try to study the GNUPanel also and get it also ready. We hope to have GNUPanel picked up as one of our Auro Technology Research Project very soon and hope to add it to our offerings sometime in August 2009.
